Félicette
REACH FOR THE STARS.
Producing quality wines of great authenticity and 'place' is a big deal to us. Creativity in terms of branding and packaging can bring the unique story of a wine to the attention of wine drinkers.
Though our feet are firmly on the ground in the Roussillon, we do have creative 'head in the clouds' moments. Félicette is one of those such moments. A range of wines dedicated to people who travel that bit further. Those who dream. The adventurous souls.
The Félicette range of small batch wines is core to our mission to deliver stellar Grenache from the region.
Who was Félicette?
It was on October 18th 1963, Félicette the cosmic cat, jetted 130 miles above Earth on a French Véronique AG1 rocket, soaring high above the Sahara Desert. She returned just fifteen minutes later, already a decorated heroine for her nation. Puurrrfect!

grenache noir, Igp pays d'oc
The vineyard is planted on the plains and foothills in the south of France, between the Pyrénées and the Mediterranean Sea. The area benefits from two distinctive climates that allow the production of a large diversity and styles of wines: the Mediterranean climate for ripe and juicy wines and the Atlantic climate for more structured and mineral wines. 20 year old vines grow on clay - limestone soils,
The grapes are harvested, destemmed and then either hot macerated to extract colour a beautiful dark red colour, and some are cold fermented to get the best possible varietal fruit extraction. The fermentation is then conducted at controlled temperature with gentle pumping overs to extract only the better tannins. The different pressings are then blended in December and aged in stainless steel tank to preserve fruit and round tannins. No oak treatment whatsoever.
Just clean starry bright fruit.
TASTING NOTE
"Bright red colour with purplish tones. A 'booster' powered nose of violets and red fruits. The Grenache launches fruit flavours of raspberry and plum. Medium-bodied on the palate, soft and juicy. A truly stellar red!"

Igp CÔTES CATALANES
The vineyard is planted on the plains and foothills in the south of France, between the Pyrénées and the Mediterranean Sea. The area benefits from two distinctive climates that allow the production of a large diversity and styles of wines: the Mediterranean climate for ripe and juicy wines and the Atlantic climate for more structured and mineral wines. Clay - limestone soils, vines grown Cordon de Royat, a plant density of between 4000 and 5000 vines/ha, yield of 75 hl/ha. Vines are circa 25 years old.
The wine benefits from a period of cold skin contact and maceration. Pressing of the Grenache Blanc grapes is carried out in a pneumatic press with separation of free-run juice from pressed must. Cold static must settling then a settling on the fine lees for 3 months with stirring to highlight the richness of the wine. The wines are then racked off the lees to prevent malolactic fermentation.
TASTING NOTE
“Bright yellow colour with green highlights. An intense but fresh bouquet combining mint, pear, dry apricot and white flowers. A wonderfully fresh palate of mango and a hint of spice leading into a crispy lime zest finish. Unwooded and starry bright."
